Watch out for

Cancelling Amazon Prime removes ALL Prime benefits at once: free next-day delivery, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming, and exclusive deals — not just the video service
Amazon deliberately hides cancellation behind 4–5 confirmation screens — keep clicking through until you see "Cancel My Benefits"
On a free trial? Cancel before the trial ends or you will be charged the full annual fee (currently £95/year) with no refund
"Prime Video" standalone (£4.99/month) is a separate, cheaper subscription — if you only want to cancel video, check which plan you actually have before proceeding
Annual subscribers who cancel early and have not used delivery benefits may be eligible for a pro-rata refund — the amount is shown on the final confirmation screen

Step by step

1
Go to amazon.co.uk and sign in to your account
2
Hover over "Account & Lists" in the top navigation and click "Account"
3
Under the "Prime" section, click "Manage Prime Membership"
4
On the left side of the page, click "Update, cancel and more"
5
Click "End Membership"
6
Amazon will show several screens offering to downgrade or pause — click "End My Benefits" to proceed with cancellation
7
Select a reason for cancelling from the dropdown
8
Click "Cancel My Benefits" to confirm — your benefits remain active until your billing period ends

On iPhone / iPad

1
Open the Amazon Shopping app and tap the menu (☰) icon
2
Tap "Account" → "Manage Prime Membership"
3
Tap "End Membership" and follow the on-screen confirmation prompts
4
Alternatively, cancel via amazon.co.uk in your mobile browser — the steps are identical to desktop

Before you cancel

💡Amazon offers a "Pause Membership" option that suspends your billing for up to 3 months while keeping your account active — look for it on the membership page before clicking "End Membership".
💡If you have an annual Prime plan and haven't used free delivery or Prime Video recently, Amazon may offer a pro-rata refund for unused months. The exact amount is shown on the cancellation confirmation screen.
💡Full Amazon Prime (£8.99/month or £95/year) includes delivery perks, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming. Prime Video standalone (£4.99/month) is video only. Check which plan you have on the Manage Prime Membership page.
💡Check whether any family members share your Prime benefits via Amazon Household — cancelling your membership removes their access immediately at period end.

What happens to your account

After cancellation

Your Amazon Prime benefits — free next-day delivery, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming, and exclusive deals — remain active until the last day of your current billing period. After that date all benefits are removed. Any orders already placed before cancellation will still be fulfilled at the Prime delivery speed.

When billing stops

Amazon stops billing you the moment you confirm cancellation. If you are on an annual plan and cancel early without having used Prime delivery or other benefits, Amazon may offer a pro-rata refund for the remaining months — the exact amount is displayed during the cancellation flow.

How to reactivate

To reactivate, go to amazon.co.uk/prime and click "Join Prime" or "Start your 30-day free trial" (if eligible). Your purchase history, watch history, and account data are preserved. A free trial is only available if you have never had one before or have not held Prime for 12 or more months.

1
Go to amazon.co.uk and sign in with your original account
2
Visit amazon.co.uk/prime and click "Join Prime"
3
Select your preferred plan — monthly (£8.99/month) or annual (£95/year)
4
Confirm your payment details and start the membership
5
Prime Video watchlists and watch history are restored immediately
6
Re-enable Amazon Household sharing manually via Account → Amazon Household if you had it set up previously
